About Me

Hey, I’m Britt. I’m a homeschooling mum, a lifelong learner, a follower of Christ, and a believer in showing up – even when things feel messy, unfinished, or just plain upside down.

I started The Essence of Becoming because I wanted a place to be honest. A place to share the trying. The growing. The days that feel like wins and the days that feel like you’re herding feral cats with a laundry basket.

This isn’t a blog full of polished systems or expert advice. It’s a space for real-life stories, gentle encouragement, and curious exploration. It’s for the parents who are doing their best, often with a toddler on one hip and pockets full of mysterious floor treasures.

What you’ll find here:

  • Homeschool reflections and ideas that don’t require a Pinterest-level setup
  • Grace-filled thoughts on motherhood, learning, and faith
  • Encouragement for the days when “trying” feels like all you’ve got left
  • Honest snapshots of what it means to grow alongside our kids – and not always get it right

I believe becoming is lifelong. That learning should be led by curiosity. And that grace belongs in every single part of our journey – especially the messy middle.

So whether you’re here for homeschool inspiration, a bit of solidarity, or just to remember you’re not the only one winging it… welcome. You’re in good company here.

We’re all becoming something. Let’s do it together.

With warmth and wonder,
Britt x

About Me

Hey, I’m Britt — homeschooling mum, overthinker by nature, follower of Christ, and someone still learning how to hold grace and growth in the same messy handful.

The Essence of Becoming is my place to write through the chaos — where homeschool meets heart work, faith meets fatigue, and learning happens in unexpected, unbalanced, and beautiful ways.

This blog isn’t about being the perfect parent or educator (spoiler: I’m neither). It’s about showing up anyway. It’s for the days when the dishes are stacked high, the lesson plans are forgotten, and the kids learn something incredible despite all of that.

Here, you’ll find real stories, thoughtful reflections, and practical resources that honour the slow, sacred, and slightly chaotic process of becoming — as a parent, as a person, and as a family.

Because becoming isn’t a destination — it’s the whole point.
